Requirements The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) leads the Australian Government’s efforts to improve cyber security. We are part of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) and our role is to help make Australia the most secure place to connect online.
ASD has an ongoing requirement for multiple Project Managers to work in support of the National Cyber Defence Program on complex projects within an integrated workforce.
Project Managers must be able to demonstrate several years experience successfully managing projects that have delivered key capability products within either a Business or ICT Program. In addition, Candidates must be able to demonstrate core project management, communication and leadership skills that enable them to: initiate, plan, document and resource their projects; manage project governance and delivery; accurately report progress; articulate risk; solve issues and problems; engage stakeholders; lead their team; brief Project Boards; and operate in a collaborative and collegiate style.
All candidates must be Australian Citizens and have the ability to obtain an NV1 clearance. If a candidate has a current AGSVA security clearance, please provide the candidate’s AGSVA Clearance Subject (CS) ID in their resume. FOR INFORMATION: This role requires the successful candidate to complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) within 12 months of engagement.
An OSA is an ASD policy requirement (ASD-POL-014) for contractors who will be engaged for a period in excess of 12 months. OSA’s are conducted to determine a person’s suitability to work in ASD. Before submitting an application for this role, the candidate should consider their preparedness for questions that may include the following topics: personal relationships, living circumstances, personal values, financial situation, physical and mental health history including substance use, and any civil and/or military record.

Working arrangements The successful candidate will normally work 5 days per week (estimated 40 hour week). This role is Canberra based, however interstate candidates are encouraged to apply, and will be considered. The Agency will consider and negotiate offsite (work from anywhere) working arrangements on a case by case basis. Where an offsite working arrangement is agreed, successful candidate will be required to: • Attend the Agency’s Canberra Office for the first week of their engagement to undertake compulsory training and to meet team members and various Agency personnel • Travel to Canberra at least once per month for a minimum of 4 working days for key stakeholder, team, and organisational events. Where the candidate is interstate based please provide the Candidate’s interstate location in their resume. The Agency will reimburse costs for flights and accommodation when agreed travel is to be undertaken, for amounts up to the Commonwealth's current arrangements for non-Senior Executive Service employees.
Security clearance Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1
Criteria Essential criteria 1. Able to demonstrate project management core skills: • Project initiation • Project planning, resource planning and cost estimation • Managing Project Governance • Risk and issue Management • Project Financial Management • Problem solving • Managing the lifecycle of the project.
1. Demonstrated successful delivery of one or more of the following: • On premise, cloud or hybrid Enterprise platforms • Major Network deployments • Big Data solutions either on premise or in the Cloud • Contact centre solutions • Internet and/or intranet web sites • ICT Outsourcing or strategic partner engagement.
2. Able to demonstrate project manager communication and leadership skills including: • Stakeholder management and engagement • Team Leadership • Board briefings • Clear documentation of Project Artefacts • Collaborative and Collegiate style
Desirable criteria 1. Demonstrated experience leading project delivery in an Organisation using Dev Ops or SAFE agile.
2. Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: • Transition in and/or transition out of outsourced arrangements • Implementation of service delivery and service management • Implementation of ongoing sustainment arrangements
