Network Monitoring Engineer

Our client is a well-established Australian IT Solutions and Consulting group offering a range of Integrated solutions to the Government and Enterprise Marketplace.
They are looking for an experienced Monitoring Engineer to take responsibility for designing, developing, and maintaining their Monitoring infrastructure. You will work closely with development, operations, and data teams to ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of their monitoring and visualization platform.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Design, develop and maintain dashboards and panels to support their monitoring and visualization needs
- Collaborate with development, operations, and data teams to identify and address data inconsistencies, performance bottlenecks, and other issues
- Optimize queries and visualizations to ensure fast and reliable performance
- Develop custom plugins and integrations to extend monitoring tool capabilities
- Configure alerts, notifications, and other monitoring features to ensure timely and effective responses to critical incidents
- Maintain and update monitoring infrastructure, including version upgrades, security patches, and performance tuning
- Develop and maintain documentation and training materials for the monitoring platform
To be successful in this role you will need the following: - Recognised industry qualifications
- Strong infrastructure knowledge (Windows, Azure, VMware, Cisco and Forti)
- Solid experience in Grafana development and administration (or similar tools)
- Good knowledge of data visualization best practices and techniques
- Strong experience with query languages such as PromQL and SQL
- Experience with common plugins and integrations, including data sources such as Prometheus, InfluxDB, and Elasticsearch and the like
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible, Terraform or Puppet
- Familiarity with Linux systems and command line tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
