Client: Department of Employment and Workplace Relations
Requirements The National Careers Institute (part of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations) seeks an experienced Content Developer to assist with the ongoing content development of the Your Career website and MySkills platforms.
Responsibilities of the role may include:
- Contribute to the implementation and management of content on National Careers Institute websites
- Experience in optimising web content for readability to a high standard in line with the Digital Transformation Agency’s style manual
- Support the development of tailored website content including the creation and maintenance of online tools and resources for the websites
- Experience in developing accessible content in line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1)
- Understanding Search Engine Optimisation principles, and how to optimize user experience for a variety of stakeholder segments.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to deliver a tailored fit for purpose digital product.
- Researching, analysing, and evaluating the effectiveness and performance of web content, including life cycle establishment and periodic reviews
- Contribute to the management of website publishing requests and liaise with relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs)
- Develop and support the website governance and strategic material.

Working arrangements Full Time Requirement: Onsite, standard 8 hours per day, and 40 hours per week in total. Flexible Working Arrangements: Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis against the business requirements of the department and the needs of the immediate work area. Reduced Activity Period: A reduced activity period may apply where the specified personnel will not work unless the buyer has provided pre-approval in writing, which includes: • Public holidays; and • Christmas shutdown, from 12:30 pm on the last working day before Christmas Day and reopening the first working day following the first day of January each year.

Criteria Essential criteria 1. Experience • In optimising web content for readability to a high standard in line with the Digital Transformation Agency’s style manual • Supporting the development of tailored website content including the creation and maintenance of online tools and resources for the websites • Contributing to the management of website publishing requests and liaising with relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) • Researching, analysing, and evaluating the effectiveness and performance of web content, including life cycle establishment and periodic reviews
50 % 2. Technical knowledge • Experience using and reporting on Google Analytics • Experience in developing accessible content in line with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1)
20 % 3. Qualifications • 2+ years of experience in web content development
10 % 4. Other skills • Understanding of Search Engine Optimisation principles, and how to optimize user experience for a variety of stakeholder segments • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work and communicate effectively and concisely with a range of stakeholders • Ability to develop and support website governance and strategic material • Proven ability to work within an agile team environment • Experience and ability in transferring knowledge to team members
20 % Desirable criteria 1. - Knowledge of HTML • Experience using GovCMS or other content management systems for web publishing
