Briefing 1: Employee Value Propositions – what's your edge?
How do you position yourself to get a competitive edge in today's talent market? Identifying and strengthening your own EVP is critical to gaining and maintaining the advantage.
SPEAKER:
Rachel Hill, Director and founder of Rachel Hill & Associates is highly experienced HR and recruitment and retention specialist that brings a valuable combination of recruitment and attraction expertise to our clients. She has worked “ both sides of the fence ” in terms of working in-house as a Resourcing Manager for several large blue chip corporations; she has also worked, as a Recruitment Consultant for specialised agencies so knows the industry & the players well. With over 17 years history in employment services and recruitment she provides you with an in-depth knowledge of employee wants and needs - why people accept roles, why they reject roles and why they would choose to work for one organisation over another.
Rachel firmly believes that knowing and understanding your current Employee Valuation Proposition has never been as important as it is in today's market. A strong EVP will have an impact when it comes to attracting and retaining good people, and can often make the difference between hiring and keeping those people or watching them go to work for a competitor. EVP can help you create a competitive advantage through reviewing your current recruitment practices and your proposition. It goes far beyond recruitment or pay and reward, as it is the “psychological contract” between employee and employer. In other words, it is the "get" versus the "give." If in the employees' minds they "get" value and satisfaction from the relationship, the company will tend to have more satisfied employees and increased retention rates.
Rachel will give you an insight into EVP as well as some helpful tips to establish if your business has a strong EVP. BSI people have retained the services of Rachel Hill specifically for their clients in 2006.
“Rachel Hill & Associates have provided excellent solutions and service to QBE Mercantile Mutual, the flexibility and adaptability that was also provided made it working with them so easy given business priorities change and therefore the solutions provided at times had to also change.” Sharyn Schultz, Executive Manager People & Performance , QBE Mercantile Mutual.

Briefing 2: Management that Engages your Employees
According to a recent survey 33% of all employees are actively disengaged. ‘Good Management' is the most influential factor in retaining employees. Management techniques to engage your staff.
SPEAKER: Scott Henderson is a former lecturer in psychology at both the universities of Sydney and Western Sydney where he specialised in social psychology, leadership, communication and workplace satisfaction. He brings this same rigorous and scientific approach to the work he does in the corporate sector with BSI Training. As the training manager, Scott is responsible for not only writing and delivering courses and conference addresses, but for managing his team of trainers. He is a registered psychologist and works with managers at all levels as both an educator and executive coach.
With the assumption that people are complex (no exceptions), he recognises that managers must now, like never before, juggle a wide range of business, personal and interpersonal issues with their staff. Negotiating this maze saddled with time and resource constraints can test both the competence and patience of the best of us. Not surprising research indicates that many managers are falling short - statistics show up to one third of all staff are actively disengaged. This disengagement leads to potential going untapped and results going unrealised. The trend of more boards holding senior management accountable for engaging and motivating staff means that managers need new skills simply to survive.
Scott believes that good management is possible and starts with the right approach, focus and mindset. He will share his tools and techniques for managers to facilitate an environment where staff are engaged and companies excel.
Scott is a lively and entertaining speaker who continues to work hard to dispel the stereotype that psychologist actually get people to lie down on couches.
" Scott Henderson uses his energetic, amusing and insightful training style to effectively engage our diverse audiences.”
